Challenge. The City of Galt, located in California’s Sacramento Valley, was experiencing residential and population growth but not commercial and industrial growth. The Council authorized the preparation of an Economic Development Strategy to be more proactive in attracting retail and commercial job opportunities for residents.
Solution. Chabin proposed a 4-point Economic Development Roadmap that focused on their assets and opportunities.
1. Building a positive image
2. Creating a vital Old Town
3. Expanding and locating commercial businesses
4. Expanding and locating job-creating businesses
Results were immediate in bringing the Chamber and City together on goals and projects, distinguishing the Central Business District versus three districts and guidance to an active Old Town.
The Council took immediate action on recommendations for branding and physical design for the Central Business District and Old Town.
